I sought out to prove you men wrong. Brian and I drove up to the hospital calmly and very anxious and a little unsure because us 1st timers have no idea really what to expect. They calmly checked us into our room and told me to get in my gown and then they put my IV in and started to induce me. My contractions were about 10 min. apart here and there for the last week but they didn't progress and sometimes they went away. So now they were pretty consistent to 10 min. apart and then 9 and then 8. Yes, it's finally 9:00 am (we went in at 7:00) and Price Is Right is on. So Brian and I turned the TV and began watching Price Is Right. It was a great distraction and things really weren't too bad yet. Then 10:00am rolled around and well lets just say the pain was worse and I wasn't as comfortable anymore. The contractions were now 6 min. apart and I looked at Brian and said, "Well this isn't too bad but not my favorite". I asked the nurse if they would get worse and more painful. She assured me that they would. Humph I debated only for 30 min. and then said, "Ok, ya I think I would rather enjoy my day so lets get the epidural". I tell you I wasn't in much pain and Kidney Stones were for sure more pain but when that epidural kicked in AHHHHHHH heaven! Brian and I continued our day watching movies, playing nintendo, and the best sleep ever!!!!! Loved it!
When it was time to push began the process and after 15 min. I looked at Bri and tried so calmly to say, "Um I feel it, I think the epidural has worn off". The nurse looked at me and my face must have shown some major pain because she left quickly and the Heaven sent man was back to give me a boost of relief. For those short 5 min. I felt pure pain and there was no break. All I could do was squeeze Bri's hand and think please don't yell at anyone. I didn't want to be a crazy lady:) I kept my mouth shut until my epidural kicked in. And then all was well again and out that baby came 15 min. later! I give props to the anesthesiologist who gave me the right boost because 30 min. after delivery I was ready to walk upstairs and had full feeling in my legs! AWESOME!
So after that long write-up I have come to the conclusion that kidney stones are worse! I never thought I would say that, but there is no pain killer to take away a kidney stone so yes it is worse and you men know what it feels like to give birth you just don't have to go through our same healing process.
